Default Are necromancers fun in pvp and pve??

Hey im new to guild wars, well not really i started 2 weeks ago and i have a lvl 20w/mo and i seem to be bored of him. I am deciding to make necro cuz they can summon golems and minions and seem really fun to play with. I was thinking rit was similar because they summon spirits. Which is funner to play, they both seem very kool please help me

It's all personal preference, why don't you make both classes and play them out a little and see how you feel?

Spirits can't move on their own, so they can't travel with you like Necromancer minions can.

ZenRgy is correct, try them both out for 2 weeks, see if they are what you expect from them. If not, then you may be bored of both of them and move on to something else.

Necromancers and Ritualists can be fun if you like experimentation and you have an active imagination. If you just run proven builds, you may feel like that is all they can do and become bored. If you test to see what else they can do (finding usefulness for Lingering Curse or some other elite that is almost never used), you may find yourself having more fun.

Enjoy!

Necromancers are waaaaay more flexible.
You can spam hexes, conditions with toxic chill, farm as a 55, nuke with SS or just plain old MM(which has like 100 variations too, by the way).
Rt's are powerful in pvp, but I find them somewhat lacking in PvE(I have both, for the record).
If its your second character, go with necro.

I'd say Necro... it's been stated above about their flexability, and it's true!!! You can do soooo much with a necro. I play mainly necro and she's finished prof and last missions of NF and Fac...

Can't say much for PvP cos I don't play it much, but PvE they ROCK!!! Nothing like seeing the damage created by 4 enemies with Spiteful Spirit on them... hehehhee

About 1000+ Ritualists will disagree with you.

Necromancers can have many conditions to give to the enemy, that is true. Ritualists have only 1, blidness.

Necromancers have a variety of hexes, Ritualists have I think 3.

I love Necromancers, but I'll give you insights on Rits.

Ritualists can summon spirits without needing corpses.
Ritualists can do massive AoE or Single target damage with Channelling
Ritualists can solo without needing to be 55
Ritualists can party heal greatly and protect, Necros cannot.

Rits can go, Rit/N and do MM bombing, Rit/Me for soloing, Rit/Mo for big healing/protecting, Rit/W for added defenses, Rit/E for e-management heals, Rit/A for Spirit-portation, etc.

Again, I love Necros, but I figure I'd say something about Rits, since others won't.

Oh, I love my rit. It's simply outclassed by my N.
Ritualists inflict blindness either through a 5-second(+1 second to be active) stationary spirit or with a random skill nobody uses.
Spirit summoning is slow and cannot be sped up with a 20/20 wand+focus.
Ritualists's AoE channeling spells are two. One of them works around the rit.
Ritualists frequently cannot solo places where 55's can, because anything hitting for over 37 damage will go right over VwK
Ritualists do heal, I give you that.
I've seen maybe one minion bomber ingame.

btw necros can solo bosses with signet of midnight just fine, they don't "need to be 55", even though that possibility allows you to farm these:
http://www.pvxbuilds.com/index.php?t...oss_strategies
and about a gazillion other areas. A VwK build can farm maybe 20% of those.

Rits are fun and awesome in pvp.
Necros are more powerful.

I just thought I would show an alternative Rit farming build. It's still not quite as capable as a 55 (it has to run from the Aatxe), but it's more proficient I would say in Smite Crawler farming for sure. Watch the attached video(s) before making your judgement.

Let's approach this from the other angle: He's a Warrior/Monk. Which Primary is best served by having either of those classes as his Secondary? Ritualist. True, he could go the Prophesies route, and make a N/Mo MM, but Rit/W and Rit/Mo are much more fun. And yes, going Rit/N is still a viable option.

I love necros because they can specialize in alot of different ways to play. You can always shutdown some players in PvP with some curses, you can steal blood and cast life degenerations, you can roam around with an army of minions, you can go melee and condition some guys up close, whatever you want to do.

PS Hi Zenrgy ;>

Thumbs up

Necro's are AMAZING. There so much more powerfull then most classes. MM is a nice build but i personaly hate playing it. I normaly leave it to Olias (My MM Hero) and equip my super secret support build (Thnx to an old Guildy)

So. Necros ROCK! Huge dmg, look great and good for farming.

This is a cool debate...

Rt Spirit stay in 1 place, Minions are more mobile
Rt do AoE damage, Necros command 10 fighters at once
Rt have it over necro on the solo bit (to my knowledge)
Rt can heal party/protect, Necro's can produce a meatshield so party members need less healing and protting.

TBH, both classes are equally good, even tho it's balanced out over a variety of functions... The end result is personaly preference... I have created 3 Rt's and deleted them all, I have created 2 necros and still have both (over 1 mil XP each). So to me, Necros are more fun and versatile...

Oh, and Rt armor sucks compared to necro!!! :P

Rits can move their spirits, but they rarely do.
Rits can command 5 or more spirits. Also, spirits do not have natural health degen, unlike minions/horrors/fiends/golem
Undead minions sometimes move slowly and are not too bright (can be blocked by objects, thus not doing anything at all)

Your 2nd last paragraph is correct though, preference is the main deal breaker.

In what respect does Rit armor suck? Necros have what... 75 when controlling 5 or more minions? 70 armor unconditional? The look?

I only have 1 primary rit and 1 primary necro. The necro has the best primary attribute in the game (pre and post nerf).

Rits can go indefinitely without having any energy issues, Necros need things to die (or use Signet of Lost Souls every 8 seconds or so on targets that have 50% max health or less).

Rts can move spirit 1 at a time and have to target them to do so... Minions just follow
Rts can have 5 spirits, Necros can get 10 minions (if 1 gets blocked or lost, just make another 1)

And yeah, on armor i meant looks wise... I play female chars, and necros are so much hotter...

I think Necros have a better e-managament system than Rits, as you say they need things to die... and that happens alot in GW... the only time u need energy is when u killing things... :P I found myself running dry of energy on my Rt, yet hardly ever on my necro (even post nerf)...

Playing an MM is fun.

That said, I'm bored with it BECAUSE we now have heroes, and I just let my hero do the MMing. But I have good MM heroes in part because I played that myself for a while.

Curses necro is a lot like a fire elementalist ("nuker"). Necro fans will tell you why Curses is better, more flexible, more fun, requires more brains, etc. I don't particularly agree. But the main point is that they both let you stand back from the battle, see everything that is going on, hit exactly the targets you want to hit without having to run after and catch them, and hurt lots of enemies.

Lingering Curse was once the most overpowered skill in the game, though.

I have both a primary Rit and Necro and I love them both, definetly two of the most versatile classess. as for which too choose, either try both or mix and match them, Rt/N & N/Rt are fun and useful profession combos.

Although personally I prefer the look of s rit, but that's just me
